Xàbia – Coll de Rates
1. Briefing
The first short climb starts after Gata de Gorgos (km 8) and leads to the town of Lliber. The main challenge of the route will be Coll de Rates, beginning at km 23 just after Alcalalí. This iconic climb offers smooth roads, stunning views, and a vibrant cycling environment 🚵🏽♀️💛.
After reaching the summit, you’ll descend via the same road and head back toward Xàbia, encountering a few minor climbs along the way, none of which pose significant difficulty.
2. CLimbs
One of the region’s most renowned climbs, this 6 km ascent features an average gradient of just 6%. This is the shorter version; the longer climb begins from the opposite side, in the village of Callosa d’en Sarrià.
3. Traffic
Anticipate some traffic during the first 8 km.
4. Road Quality
The road quality is excellent for most of the route.
