Xàbia – Miserat
1. Briefing
The first 25 km are quite manageable, taking you through small villages and quiet roads with some gentle climbs, but nothing compared to what lies ahead.
After crossing the village of Pego, you’ll head towards l’Atzubia. By km 35, you’ll start encountering steeper gradients, signaling the start of the day’s first real challenge—the climb up Miserat🚩.
Once you conquer Miserat, you can recover with a long descent into the town of Ebo. At km 50, right after Ebo, there’s a short and easy climb at ‘Pla de Petracos.’
The second climb is steady with no surprises, but by this point, you may feel the effects of earlier efforts. After reaching the summit, you’ll be rewarded with a smooth descent on excellent roads🌞.
2. CLimbs
One of the toughest climbs in the area. The first 500 meters are relatively easy with a 6% incline, but after the initial kilometer, the gradients rapidly increase to 18-20%. The climb continues on a narrow, winding road, making it a real test of endurance. At km 3.5, you’ll get a brief reprieve before tackling the final kilometer on an even narrower path, with gradients again reaching up to 20%🔥🔥. This 6 km ascent will push even the most seasoned cyclists to their limits.
In comparison to Miserat, the gradients here are more forgiving, but don’t underestimate this climb. The 6 km ascent averages 6.5% incline, with steeper sections reaching up to 8%. It’s a steady climb but worth taking at a comfortable pace, especially after the tough ride up Miserat.
3. Traffic
After crossing the town of Pedreguer at km 15, you’ll experience much calmer roads. Traffic remains minimal between Pego (km 35) and Benimaurell (km 70), making for a peaceful ride through this stretch.
4. Road Quality
The road quality is excellent throughout most of the circuit👌. However, the first section of the Miserat climb may have a few minor potholes to watch out for.
