Altea – Rates
1. Briefing
The sole ascent on the circuit is Coll de Rates; a strategic approach is vital to conserve energy for a successful summit. Renowned in the region, it’s a frequently tackled climb, with the shorter version from Parcent being the more recognized route, starting from the opposite side of the valley. Prepare for a challenging yet rewarding climb! 🚵♂️🏞️
2. CLimbs
This extended route of the renowned Coll de Rates climb spans 18.5 kilometers, commencing from the village of Callosa d’en Sarrià with an average incline of 2.2%. The most challenging segment begins post-Bolulla, approximately 13 kilometers before reaching the summit.
3. Traffic
Anticipate heavy traffic in the initial and final kilometers while traveling along the national road. However, traffic tends to ease notably once we pass through the town of Callosa d’en Sarria.
4. Road Quality
The road quality maintains a consistently high standard throughout the entire track, ensuring a smooth ride.
